ARTEMIS NECKLACE with Faceted SAPPHIRES (SEPTEMBER BIRTHSTONE)

$115

Our September birthstone is Sapphire, and once again we have some lovely examples to use in our earrings and necklaces! The beautiful blues work so well with both our brass and silver!

My "Artemis" collection was inspired by the Greek Goddess of hunting, the wilderness and wild animals!

Artemis, in ancient Greek religion, was the goddess of wild animals, the hunt, vegetation and of chastity and childbirth. (She was identified by the Romans as Diana.) Artemis was the daughter of Zeus and Leto and was the twin sister of Apollo. Among the rural populace, Artemis was the favorite goddess! Her character and function varied greatly from place to place but behind all forms lay the goddess of wild nature who danced, usually accompanied by nymphs in mountains, forests, and marshes.

Sapphire is said to be the wisdom stone, stimulating concentration, enhancing creativity and promoting purity and depth of thought. It is believed to focus and calm the mind as well as remove unwanted thoughts, depression and mental tension.
In many ancient cultures, this precious gem was believed to make connections with the spirit world. Some people even believed that they allowed for communication with the Gods. It is said that people who visited the oracles would wear a sapphire ring (or other sapphire jewelry) to help receive a prophetic message.

Equal parts feminine and badass warrior, my design for the Artemis earrings and necklaces features a hammered brass curved "bow", with Faceted Sapphires.

The width of the "string" of faceted Sapphires is 1 3/16" wide, the "bow" is 1 1/4" wide x 1 1/2" tall and it is suspended on a 16" Sterling Silver chain.

*Due to the unique qualities of each Sapphire, the pair you receive may be slightly different from the ones pictured, but as they come from the same batch of crystals they are all very close to one another and we ensure the paired stones match each other in each pair!
